PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
The South Bend Public Transportation Corporation (TRANSPO ), providing reliable bus service to area residents since the late 1800s, carries over 2.5 million passengers annually. TRANSPO'S fleet of 60 buses travel nearly two million miles annually on 183 miles of designated bus routes, helping to serve businesses and attractions throughout the Greater South Bend/Mishawaka community. TRANSPO'S fleet is fully wheelchair accessible, as well as being outfitted with bike racks, offering riders the added convenience of bringing bicycles to their final destination.
Travelers can also jump onboard the TRANSPO Trolleys, providing transportation in the downtown central business district during weekdays, and offering a fun and convenient way to get around to downtown South Bend attractions. The "replica" Trolleys re-create the look and feel of an authentic, turn-of-the-century streetcar.
Today, TRANSPO is a public agency dedicated to serving the transportation needs of the area's citizens, proving to be a safe, economical, and reliable way for local residents to reach points of business, work and pleasure.
