Farmer's Market
Nothing says "fresh" like the Farmer's Market located in South Bend along the St. Joseph River. Open year round, this wonderful pageant of garden fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and other favorites is the place to shop!
If you need just the right touch for a special occasion, peruse the market to find such things as, fresh baked breads, rolls & pies, hand picked floral arrangements & potted plants, homemade candy, maple syrup, fresh eggs, etc. Or, maybe you need a "home-cooked" meal, which you can also find in the Farmer's Market at The Restaurant, open every market day, and guaranteed to satisfy.
Pierre Navarre Cabin

Built in 1820 by one of the area's first settlers
and his wife, who was a Potawatomi Indian,
this log cabin is preserved in its original state. It is the site for Cabin Days, a historical re-enactment held annually in May.

Tippecanoe Place & 
Studebaker Mansion
This Victorian showplace was completed in 1889 for $250,000, which at the time was an astonishing amount of money. The massive walls, made of local granite fieldstone, construct four main levels with a total of 40 rooms and 20 fireplaces. The mansion served the Studebaker family as the setting for many lavish parties, weddings, and balls.
Today, Tippecanoe Place continues to serve South Bend as a fine dining restaurant- offering its guests a taste of the bountiful life and style of the Studebaker family.
University of Notre Dame
Visitors and alumni from all over the world travel to see this spectacular campus, experience the Notre Dame mystique, and enjoy the legendary "Fightin' Irish" athletic teams. The campus displays century-old murals in the Main Building, famous for its golden dome. Nearby, the Basilica of Sacred Heart is noted for its historic stained glass windows and a rare, baroque altar believed to have been built in Rome during the late 1600s. The Hesburgh Library has a massive stone mosaic on the south wall depicting biblical figures. The Grotto illuminated at all times by prayer candles, is a beautiful scaled-down replica of Our Lady of Lourdes shrine in France. |
