College Football Hall of Fame From the moment visitors enter they are treated to an array of exciting interactive displays, and visual delights. Journey a bit farther and find yourself presented with numerous areas to explore; for example, among others, is the Hall of Champions immortalizing all the greats of the game, the Pigskin Pageantry tribute highlighting traditions that accompany college football, and the Stadium Theater that surrounds you in 360° of college game sights and sound. Whatever your level of interest, from player to fan, the College Football Hall of Fame is an unbelievable must-see for all!
Hannah Lindahl Children's Museum A Michiana teaching museum designed just for children, with the motto: Please do touch! Fascinating arrangements of everything from dinosaur bones to Native American Artifacts, and firefighting equipment to period furniture, await your hands-on inspection. A special exhibit of the museum, invites you to step into the world of Japanese culture, a tribute to Mishawaka's Sister City, Shiojiri, Japan. Other features include the award winning, Survive Alive House, put together by Mishawaka Firefighters and PTA members to teach children proper fire safety; Gallery Hall, where visitors pass through a Conestoga wagon display and into a nostalgic replica of how life in Mishawaka might of looked in the mid-1800s. Indiana University South Bend Art Gallery The Art Gallery at IU South Bend gives students in the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts hands-on experience in planning and conducting student art exhibits. The gallery is open to the public and offers showings by established artists who exhibit their work here throughout the school year. Other gallery highlights include both the annual faculty and student art shows. Northern Indiana Center for History Beautifully encompassed on 10 acres in the West Washington Historic District of South Bend, the Northern Indiana Center for History includes Copshaholm House Museum, the Center for History, Kid's First Children's Museum, and the Worker's Home Museum. Each unique area of the Northern Indiana Center for History combine fascinating historical presentations of the people and life in the St. Joseph River Valley area, from the prehistoric era to the present. Take a tour of Copshaholm House Museum, a historic 38-room mansion that still retains the original family furnishings. Visit nine permanent galleries in The Center for History, which also houses a 125-seat auditorium, an outdoor amphitheater, archival library, and museum gift shop. Kid's First Children's Museum encourages children to explore and understand history through hands-on activities and attractions. The Worker's Home Museum, furnished to reflect a typical 1930's working class family, highlights different cultures within the St. Joseph River Valley on a rotating basis. The Snite Museum of Art One of the finest university art museums in America is located on the University of Notre Dame campus. The Exceptional holdings include among others, a collection of Rembrandt etchings, 19th Century European photographs, Mestrovic sculpture and drawings, Olmec and pre-classic Mesoamerican art, Northern Native American art, 20th Century art, and outdoor sculpture. The museum hosts tours, lectures and gallery talks, temporary exhibitions, musical performances, recitals, poetry readings, literary events and films in the Annenburg Auditorium. Adjacent to the Permanent Collection is the Warner Rotunda, which provides excellent viewing space for rotating installation pieces. The large Warner Gallery, hosts a variety of traveling exhibits, each with an average 11 week run. The Jerome J. Crowley Community Gallery becomes resident to approximately 20 exhibitions a year, showcasing regional art exhibits and artifacts. Lastly, the Art League Gallery summons nationally known artists and bestows upon them a large, inviting space from which to exhibit. Studebaker National Museum From the Studebaker family's Conestoga wagon to the last car made in South Bend, this is your opportunity to view 114 years of automotive legend. Admire and photograph unique vehicles such as the actual Studebaker carriage that carried President Lincoln to Ford's Theatre the night he was assassinated, the 1956 Packard Predictor concept car, or the only remaining 1927 President Limousine. Re-live six decades of Studebaker Style through photographs and stories about the company's rich history. |
