Bringing the Best of the Big Apple to South Bend.The Broadway Theatre League was established in 1959 as part of a nationwide network of leagues committed to bringing Broadway shows to communities across the country, by way of touring companies. Notable for its success Broadway Theatre Leagueand a strong relationship with producers and booking agencies in New York, the South Bend's Broadway Theatre League is one of the few remaining leagues. The League is in its 43rd season of bringing the theatre district of Times Square to South Bend's theatre district on North Michigan Street. They are delighted to present shows at the Morris Performing Arts Center, and look forward to featuring bigger and better shows then ever!

The Moreau Center for the Arts at Saint Mary's College is named in honor of the Very Reverend Basil Anthony Moreau, C.S.C., the founder of the Sisters of the Holy Cross. The U-shaped building is made up of studios, workshops, classrooms and two theatres. 

O'Laughlin Auditorium, which offers continental seating up to 1300 is ideal for large musical and theatrical productions, while the Little Theatre, with seating for approximately 300, is well suited to student concerts, panels and workshop productions.

Built in 1922, with a spectacular renovation in 1999, The Morris Performing Arts Center has once again become the heart of South Bend's cultural district. Home to the South Bend Symphony and The Broadway Theater League, the Morris commands top national performers and Broadway productions.

Morris Performing Arts CenterPast bills have included, comedian Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Bill Cosby, performance troupes such as Stomp and Riverdance-The Show, top magician David Copperfield, and extraordinary Broadway plays like Rent, Cats, Beauty and The Beast, Miss Saigon, and Phantom of the Opera. Recent family-oriented shows for children include Sesame Street Camp-Out, Scooby-Doo, and Bear in the Big Blue House. Superstar concert acts in the last year alone have included the Indigo Girls, Chicago, Sheryl Crow, and Willie Nelson. Overall, the Morris offers a fabulous variety of attractions for all tastes.

Southold Dance Theater (SDT) is a regional training company dedicated to dance excellence. SDT is the only dance organization in the region to offer a pre-professional track of study for the serious dance student. Many dancers successfully audition for some of the nation's most prestigiouse dance institutions. Several have gone on to professional dance careers.

The Morris Performing Arts Center is home to Southold's concert season of dance performances. From the classics of the ballet repertoire to provocative works in modern dance, Southold Dance Theater is committed to presenting high quality performances that inspire and awe its audiences. Public performances attract audiences of more than 7,000 annually while more than 13,000 area school children enjoy the Youth Concert programs.

The South Bend Chamber Singers, an ensemble-in-residence at Saint Mary's College, was founded in 1989. The 29 members have extensive musical backgrounds, but their current professions range from carpenters and ministers to lawyers and college professors. The ensemble concentrates on works by living composers, but its repertoire includes traditional compositions and unusual and complex arrangements. They have performed with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Germany's Chamber Orchestra of the Rhine, the Cavani and Chester String Quartets, the Walker Chapel Brass, and the NIU Steel Band. From 1994 to 2001, the Chamber Singers were featured annually on The First Art, heard nationally on over 275 public and commercial radio. They were also selected to perform for the Central Division Convention of the American Choral Directors Association in 1996 (Cincinnati) and 2002 (Chicago). In 2000, the Singers were one of five finalists for the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence, given annually by Chorus America. Since 1992 their efforts have been rewarded by annual grants from the Indiana Arts Commission.

South Bend Civic TheatreEach year, the Civic Theatre places a particular emphasis on presenting small-set, intimate comedies, dramas, mysteries and musicals, mostly contemporary, with at least one revival yearly of an American classic.  Events include six Main Stage Season productions, six Studio Stage Season productions, three productions for children, four Sunday Musical Matinees, a program of children's classes in the fall, spring, and summer, and at least one production each year with an African-American theme and cast.

During each academic year, the Department of Film, Television, and Theatre presents four plays on the Washington Hall main stage, and many student theatre projects in the laboratory theatre each year. The performance season begins in September and lasts through April. Student and senior citizen discounts are available.

Joseph E. Fischoff founded the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in 1973 as a way of encouraging young people to pursue chamber music study and Fischoff National Chamber Music Associationperformance. Now in its 30th year, the Competition has grown from 6 to 62 participating ensembles in both wind and string categories of three to six performers. Fischoff is the largest and only national chamber music competition with both senior and junior divisions (age 18 and younger).  Fischoff's mission is unique in its purpose to provide an opportunity for education and development of young people through its nationally acclaimed chamber music competition, educational residencies and community concerts.
