Labor Force - Financial Assistance
STATE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The State of Indiana has recently launched the Skills
2016 program, an initiative that combines the State's employee
training and educational programs under one umbrella. Advance Indiana
is one Skills 2016 grant program offered through the Indiana Department
of Workforce Development. Advance Indiana is designed to provide financial
assistance to companies and organizations committed to expanding the skills
of their existing workers through training programs that result in industry-recognized
credentials. Specific programs offered by the Department of Workforce
Development include:
Gain
Education and Training (GET) targeted to Indiana businesses and organizations
that develop innovative training programs to train workers who are
Workforce
Investment Now (WIN) created as a tool to help workers improve their
skills where there is a substantial risk of reduction in workforce.
Skilled
Trades Apprenticeship (STA) grants assist firms with training costs
associated with industrial trade apprenticeships and upgrading skills
of journey persons.
Regional
Skill Alliance Training Networks grants provide training assistance
to firms who coordinate their training activities for mutual benefit

Local Programs
There are a number of local institutions that offer
training and educational programs to new and existing employers. Each
of these institutions has the capacity to identify financial assistance
that might be applied to offset the costs of these programs. A partial
