Labor Force - Community Programs
COMMUNITY and ONE-STOP PROGRAMS
In 1998, state and local officials moved to establish centralized "one-stop" centers which consolidated the majority of each region's employment assistance
and training facilities.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation and the Northern
Indiana Workforce Investment Board have collaborated to establish programs and activities designed to
assist employers in meeting their work force needs.
The goal of WorkOne
is to promote lifelong learning for job seekers so that they are prepared
to be productive and viable in the labor market and to meet employers'
demand for qualified labor, which in turn promotes regional economic
growth and stability.
